DeskVal ("we", "us", "our") provides indicative market price opinions on Australian residential property. We respect your privacy and handle your personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs). This policy explains what we collect, why, how we use and disclose it, and how you can access, correct or complain about it.
We only collect personal information reasonably necessary to provide our service:
| Category | Examples |
|---|---|
| Identity & contact | Your name, email address and phone number. |
| Order details | The subject property address, property type, the report tier you select, and the purpose you tell us. |
| Consent record | The acknowledgement you give when submitting an order. |
| Technical | Limited information your browser sends (e.g. IP address) and basic, privacy-respecting analytics. We do not build advertising profiles. |
Payment information. Card payments are processed by our payment provider (Stripe). We do not collect or store your full card details on our systems.
Directly from you — through our order form, by email, or in conversation. Occasionally we may receive your details from a referral partner (e.g. a conveyancer or broker) who you have asked to refer you, or where you have consented.
We will only use your information for a purpose you would reasonably expect, or with your consent, or as permitted by law.
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with service providers who help us deliver the service, and only as needed:
Some of our service providers (including HubSpot, Stripe, Netlify and Cloudflare) store or process data on servers located outside Australia, including in the United States and other countries. By using our service you acknowledge that your information may be handled overseas. We take reasonable steps to ensure these providers protect your information consistently with the APPs.
Our order capture is transmitted over encrypted (HTTPS) connections, runs through an origin-locked, bot-protected server endpoint, and the systems we use apply access controls. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information from misuse, loss, and unauthorised access.
We keep your information only as long as needed for the purposes above and to meet our legal and record-keeping obligations, after which we take reasonable steps to delete or de-identify it.
You can ask us to access the personal information we hold about you, or to correct it if it is inaccurate, by emailing get@deskval.com.au. We will respond within a reasonable time. There is generally no charge, though we may recover reasonable costs for substantial access requests.
If we send you optional updates, every message includes an unsubscribe option, and you can opt out at any time by emailing us. We will always let you submit an order without consenting to marketing.
If you have a privacy concern, please contact us first at get@deskval.com.au and we will work to resolve it. If you are not satisfied, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au or 1300 363 992.
We may update this policy from time to time. The current version is always the one published on this page, with the effective date shown above.
